When someone asks ChatGPT who to use, you want to be the answer.
Search is splitting in two. One half is still ten blue links. The other half is a single answer, delivered with no list to be on. Ranking well protects you in the first half. It does almost nothing for the second.
A recommendation replaced a results page.
When a search engine returned links, being on page one was enough — the buyer did the comparing. When an assistant returns three names, the comparing has already happened, invisibly, and you were either included or you weren’t.
Being included depends on things that are not the same as ranking: whether your business is described consistently everywhere it appears, whether your pages answer questions in a form a model can lift cleanly, and whether anything outside your own site corroborates what you claim.
That work has a name and almost nobody local is selling it yet. Which is the entire reason it’s worth doing now rather than in two years.
On-page first. Then off-page.
They’re sequential, not alternative. The second only pays off once the first is in place — which is why they sit on different tiers rather than being sold together.
AI Optimisation (AIO)
Making your own pages machine-legible.
- Schema markup — who you are, what you sell, where, for how much
- FAQ markup on the pages where the questions actually occur
- Content restructured into liftable, answer-shaped passages
- Clear, unhedged claims a model can quote without qualifying
- Optimising for AI Overviews and featured snippets
Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)
Making your business known beyond your own pages.
- Brand entity building — a consistent identity across the open web
- Directory, profile and citation consistency
- Content designed to be referenced by other people, not just read
- Prompt tracking — what models say when asked about your category
- Monthly AI-visibility report with share-of-voice against named rivals
Is this just SEO with a new name?
No, though they share a foundation. SEO gets you ranked in a list of links. AI visibility gets you named inside an answer where no list appears. A page can rank third for a keyword and be quoted first by ChatGPT, or rank first and never be mentioned. They are measured differently and worked on differently.
Can anyone actually guarantee this?
No, and be careful with anyone who says otherwise. Nobody controls what a model says. What can be controlled is whether your business is legible to one — structured, consistent, corroborated across sources and clearly the best answer to a specific question. That is what moves the odds.
How do I know it’s working?
On the top plan, a monthly report: the prompts tracked, whether you were mentioned, and who was mentioned instead. Rank tracking, applied to answer engines.
Why does this matter for a small Malaysian business?
Because the behaviour has already changed. People ask an assistant “who should I use for X in KL” and act on the three names it returns. If you are not one of them, you are not in the consideration set at all — and unlike a search results page, there is no page two to be found on.
Curious whether AI currently mentions you at all?
I’ll check a handful of real prompts for your category before the call and tell you what came back — including if the answer is nothing.
